Meet Shane Desbrowe-Annear,
Your Local Custom Builder

Managing Director of Desbo Building Group, Shane Desbrowe-Annear started out as a bricklayer by trade in Geelong. “Desbo” is a short abbreviation of Desbrowe-Annear; the nickname was given to Shane by his peers in his early school years – and it’s this name that he’s given to his boutique building company.

Shane went on to study for his Builder’s License and is also self-taught in carpentry. His passion for building and design and focus on achieving perfection runs in his family; Shane’s great-great grandfather was esteemed Australian architect Harold Desbrowe-Annear, who was a primary influencer in the development of the Arts and Crafts Movement in Australia between 1880-1920. Shane is extremely proud of his heritage, and his incredible attention to detail in everything he does justifies the immense pride Shane takes in the team he has formed and the quality of the product he delivers.

From concept to design through the construction process to handover, Shane communicates and collaborates with you one-on-one so that you have a direct point of contact and reference for your build. Fantastic Build & Quality

18 Months ago I was looking at purchasing a home in the Geelong region and over a few weekends I inspected many homes some new and some that had been lived in. By sheer coincidence we drove up my current street to inspect another property and came across this brand new 3 bedroom townhouse.

From the first step into this townhouse it just reflected quality and attention to detail. The appliances were all european, the kitchen layout was spacious which included a butlers pantry and the compacting windows that leads outside just opened up the entire lower section which has a north facing aspect. The laundry was large and so was the two and half car garage space.

Up stairs there is a rumpus room with two bedrooms and a large bathroom that services that area, again attention to detail and quality in the bathroom just like the ensuite. One thing I forgot to mention is the house is 6 star energy rating, again another quality idea and product.

The builder was most accommodating especially around the settlement dates as we ran into a issue of the party purchasing my previous townhouse and once I explained it to Desbo Building Group they were fantastic and adjusted settlement to meet my needs. If I was to build another home or townhouse I wouldn’t look any further than these guys.

I highly recommend any person or couples who are wanting a builder that has quality staff, fantastic attention to detail not too look any further than Desbo Building Group.

It's all in the detail

After purchasing our idyllic 1 acre block, we began where most would, looking through countless display homes. We had a clear image in our minds of what we wanted; a double-storey, American-style, weatherboard home that oozed character. It quickly became clear that a volume builder would not be able to offer us the dream home we had invisioned.

We sought after a draftsperson and began drawing up some plans. It quickly became very overwhelming. We didn’t know how much everything would cost and how on earth were we going to budget.

Our first meeting with Shane was at one of his projects, townhouses in South Geelong. It was very clear at this point how pedantic him and his team were and the attention to detail was superior. From the very first meeting, he made the process seem so easy.

Throughout the process we had constant communication and inclusion with the build. We were able to make minor changes and the DBG team were very adaptable. The finishes are beyond our expectations and everything was completed to an exceptional standard.

We have now been in our beautiful home for just over a year and absolutely love it. Thank you to Shane and the team at Desbo Building Group!
